preventive conservation

A variety of innovative strategies and actions designed to ensure the preventive conservation of its Permanent Collection have been developed by the Eva Klabin Foundation.

In May 2002 it completed the project supported by the Vitae Foundation for upgrading the environmental conditions at the museum, adapting the air-conditioning system to work with forced ventilation (installed by AIRMIX). Additionally, a drainage network was also laid to siphon off rainwater falling very close to the building and increasing its humidity levels. Temperatures and relative humidity levels in the museum rooms are monitored on a daily basis.

Other interventions in the exhibition circuit are intended to upgrade no only the presentation conditions but also the conservation of the items. Recently, the bases, rugs and support hooks of the entire Roman Glass Collection, which date back to the late XIX century, were replaced by new items, produced by Regina Barreto, offering better conservation conditions.
